List your businessFor warranty work, generally yes. Manufacturer certification is brand-specific, and a network install done outside it can void coverage. Ask which brands a shop is authorized for before you buy the unit.
A plotter swap or a VHF, yes. A transducer through the hull means a haul out, so that job goes to a yard. Autopilot and radar installs are usually a mix of dock work and a short yard visit.
Plan on your boat being down for one to two weeks for a full helm. Ask for the network diagram at handoff. A shop that documents the install saves you real money the next time something needs tracing.
