Marine Mechanics, answered locally

Will a mechanic come to my dock in Tequesta?

Most will. Mobile service across the north side of the Loxahatchee is standard here, though a repower or a lower-unit rebuild usually has to happen at a shop. Ask about a trip charge before you book: several shops fold it into the first hour, some bill it separately.

Outboard or diesel, does it matter who I call?

Yes. Outboard techs and inboard diesel techs are largely separate trades, and dealer certification is engine-specific. Filter on the exact service you need rather than assuming any mechanic covers both.

How fast can I get someone out after a breakdown?

Off-season, usually a few days. Between the spring kingfish run and the summer, the good shops book out one to three weeks. If you are dead in the water, say so on the first call: most shops hold some capacity for boats that cannot move.

What does salt exposure change about service intervals?

A boat kept in a slip at Jupiter Inlet sees far harder service than a trailered boat stored inland in Palm Beach Gardens. Ask any mechanic you are considering how they adjust intervals for a slipped boat. It is a quick way to tell who works on saltwater boats daily.
